Akagera National Park is home to diverse wildlife. Teeming with plains game, Akagera now also boasts a healthy population of lion, which were reintroduced into the park in 2015 after a 20-year absence, as well as black rhino which were reintroduced in 2017. Do you fancy spotting the Big Five in Akagera National Park? With superb views over Lake Rwanyakazinga set in the idyllic sanctuary of Akagera National Park, the luxury Magashi Camp is a one-of-a-kind setting in Rwanda, the only exclusive-use area in Akagera – also harbours a good density of leopard.

During your 3 day safari, you will enjoy in this natural habitat of different animals and birds:

The first day, you will have a night safari to discover of different animals such as gazelles, zebras, leopards, hyenas, etc.

The second day, you will have game drives for discovering among others: herds of elephants and buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, impalas, oribas and secret bushboos, as well as unsightly tsessebe and the largest antelope in the world, sculptural Cepeeland and luckily the lions and rhinos recently introduced to the park.

The third day, enjoy the boat trip on Lake Ihema that will allow you to admire hippos, crocodiles, birds...

At the end of your safari, you will realize that you have had a real experience rich in flora and fauna which cannot be experienced elsewhere than in this in this wooded savannah.

Day 1: Kigali-Akagera/Night Safari

Kigali Airport-Kigali Genocide memorial site and transfer to Akagera National Park (Magashi Camp) via road.

Today, around 7:30 am your professional driver guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel for having the briefing about your safari. Then, you will first visit Kigali genocide memorial site and thereafter proceed to Akagera National Park via road (optional: transfer by helicopter at additional cost)

Upon arrival, you will check in and lunch at the luxurious lounge of Magashi Camp. In the afternoon, relax by the swimming pool or by Rwanyakizinga Lake viewing. Then go to the first night safari for discovering different night animals.

-    Accommodation: Magashi camp (Luxury tented camp located inside Akagera NP)

-    Meals: Lunch and Dinner (Breakfast not included).

-    Drinks: All local drinks

Day 2: Akagera game drive

After Early morning Coffee and light breakfast, go to the morning guided safari with Magashi camp professional guide. Thereafter return to the camp for lunch. Then have your noon time at leisure.

After that, enjoy the afternoon guided safari. Then back to camp, relax and cool off!

-    Accommodation: Magashi camp (Luxury tented camp located inside Akagera NP)

-    Meals: Full board (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

Day 3: Lake Rwanyakizinga boat trip

-    After a relaxed breakfast, go to boat trip on Lake Rwanyakizinga to experience the aquatic fauna (Hippopotamus, crocodile, birds ...). Akagera is renowned as one of the best birding areas in the world with more than 500 species recorded here. Then return to Kigali (exit the park at 11:00), transfer via road to be dropped at your desired location, at your hotel or at the airport (optional: transfer by helicopter at additional cost).

-    Meals: Breakfast and packed Lunch (dinner not included)

-    Drinks : Mineral water

Low season single traveler supplement: US$ 612 per person

High season single traveler supplement: US 1050 per person

This trip is suitable for children of 13 years and older. Children under 16 years inclusive are discounted. Children must be accompanied by an adult to enjoy this tour.

Payment terms

Payment is made in Dollars or Euros at the current exchange rate from dollar to euro. A deposit of 50% of the price is paid to confirm the trip. The balance (50%) must be paid at least 30 days before the arrival of the group. When you make a deposit you accept our terms and conditions.

As a rule, payment is made by bank transfer, the cost of the bank transfer at your charge.

Direct Payment Online (DPO) is also possible at an additional cost of 3.5% of the sent amount.

If needed, payment by credit card at our office in Kigali is also possible at an additional cost of 3% of the paid amount.

Guidelines

-          This tour starts and ends in Kigali. The client can be picked up and dropped off at the airport or hotel in Kigali city. Please inform about the same at the time of booking.

-          Comprehensive travel insurance policy (with medical and evacuation insurance) and obtaining it for the days you are visiting is your responsibility. Please email us your proof of insurance before arriving for the trip.

-          The exact order, content and rate of this tour are subject to availability. The accommodation is per person sharing. Single tented room is provided at supplement cost.

-          A valid passport proof of the Traveler is mandatory to avail this service.

-          Additional accommodation before the tour starts or after the end of the tour can be arranged at an additional cost.
