During these 2 days at Akagera Safari in the natural habitat of different animals and birds, you will be able to discover among others:

D1: Boat trip on Lake Ihema that will allow you to admire hippos, crocodiles, birds...

D2: Spotting the Big Five in Akagera National Park. You will be able to observe herds of elephants and buffaloes, lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, impalas, oribis, and secret bushbous, as well as unsightly tsessebe and the largest antelope in the world, sculptural Cepeeland and many kinds of birds.

At the end of your safari, you will realize that you have had a real rich experience in flora and fauna which cannot be experienced elsewhere than in wooded savannah.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali – Akagera

Today, your professional driver guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel to take you around 9:00 a.m to proceed to Akagera National Park. (around 3 hours of transfer).

Lunch at Imigongo Art Center  or Akagera Transit Lodge

Upon arrival, you will check in at Akagera Game Lodge, then relax by the pool. Afterward, go on a sunset boat trip from 4:30 to 6:00 pm on Lake Ihema to discover the aquatic wildlife (hippos, crocodiles, birds...).

Dinner and night at Akagera Game Lodge (4-star hotel) or similar

Day 2: Full day Akagera game drive

After an early morning breakfast at 7:00 a.m your professional driver guide will take you for a full day wildlife game drive (around 7 hours) in Akagera National Park from south to north for variety of animals discovering: Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo), giraffes, zebras, antelopes, impalas, secret oribas and bushbous, as well as ungainly tsessebe and the largest antelope in the world, Cepeeland statuesque… ...).

The park also boasts almost 500 species of birds including the spectacular shoebill with its implausibly massive bill and the near-endemic red-faced barbet.

Lunch at Mihindi Café and Campsite inside the Park:

Thereafter driver back to Kigali. On the way, stopover at Imigongo art Center for discovering the traditional art form made by women using cow dung to create beautiful geometric shapes called Imigongo.   Did you know that Prince Kakira son of King Gisaka, invented the art of decorating houses with cow dung (Imigongo art) in 19th century in Rwanda?

Return to Kigali around 6:00 pm

This trip is guaranteed for 5 -7 people. For less than 5 people or more than 7 people, the price can be adjusted to the group size. This tour is suitable for children 13+ and pay as adults. Children must be accompanied by an adult to enjoy this tour. Rwandan/EAC citizens,  Rwandan/EAC residents, and Africans get discounts on park entry fees.

Accommodation is per person sharing.

Payment terms  

Payment is made in Dollars or Euros at the current exchange rate from dollar to euro. A deposit of 50% of the price is paid to confirm the trip. The balance (50%) must be paid at least 30 days before the arrival of the group. When you make a deposit you accept our terms and conditions.

As a rule, payment is made by bank transfer, and the cost of the bank transfer is at your charge. Direct Payment Online (DPO) is possible at an additional cost of 3.5% of the sent amount. If needed, payment by credit card at our office in Kigali is also possible at an additional cost of 3% of the paid amount.

On this shared tour, you will join a group of other travelers. This tour starts and ends in Kigali. The client can be picked up and dropped off at the airport or hotel in Kigali city. Please inform about the same at the time of booking. Before or after trip, accommodation, airport transfer on arrival or departure can be arranged at an additional cost. The exact order, content and rate of this tour are subject to availability. Hotel is named as an indication of category and rooms may be reserved at similar standard hotels if the situation is beyond our control. Travel insurance is mandatory and obtaining it for the days you are visiting is your responsibility. Please email us your proof of insurance before arriving for the trip. Your camera is a must.
